The Port of Ilhéus achieved a milestone by simultaneously loading two long-haul vessels this week, demonstrating the growing efficiency and strength of southern Bahia’s terminal. The Snoekgracht carried 10,109 tonnes of nickel to Finland, while the Irene transported 9,355 tonnes of cargo to China, fully utilizing the port’s berthing capacity. This operational success reflects significant structural investments by Codeba, especially dredging works that enhanced safety and maneuvering. From January to September 2025, Ilhéus handled 202,886 tonnes and increased its operating revenue by 74%, boosting its share to 8% of Codeba’s total. According to Port Manager Gilberto Rodrigues, the results confirm Ilhéus’s economic viability and strategic role. Fully publicly operated, the port continues to drive southern Bahia’s development, with all investments funded by Codeba’s own resources, reaffirming its mission to promote regional economic and social growth.
