PARANAGUÁ PORT INCREASES CANAL DEPTH AND BOOSTS LOADING CAPACITY

The Port of Paranaguá deepened the canal in five berths from 12.5 to 12.8 meters, following a recent dredging operation approved by the Captaincy of the Ports of Paraná. The change enhances operational capacity, directly impacting competitiveness in the international market. Each meter of operational draft represents approximately an additional 7,000 tons of bulk cargo. With the estimated operational gain of 2,100 tons per ship, the expectation is for over 378,000 tons annually, benefiting an average of 180 vessels. The action aims to strengthen the West Export Corridor, which accounted for over 5% of the cargo in Paraná ports in 2023.
