Klabin, the largest producer and exporter of paper for packaging, started operations at the Klabin Port Terminal PAR-01 on December 16. With the construction of new railroad access, the Terminal, which is located within the port area, marks the resumption of operations with wagons at the Port’s commercial quay in the region. PAR-01 enables the entire unloading operation of hardwood pulp, softwood pulp and paper and fluff reels coming from the Puma and Monte Alegre Units to be done inside the Port of Paranaguá. The operation will embark pulp bales and rolls produced at the Ortigueira and Monte Alegre mills. Up to 1 million tons are estimated to be transported a year. The first ship with cargo from the terminal leaves in December for Livorno in Italy, an important region where Klabin’s products have a strong presence.
