The Itajaí Port Complex registered 121,273 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent measure for container units) and 1,418,821 tonnes during March. Also, in March, general cargo operations rose to newsworthy levels, especially when it comes to pulp and big bags/fertilizers. For example, vessel docked at the Port of Itajaí with 13,195 tonnes of cellulose pulp, the third cargo operation of such kind in the year. On March 19, the ship docked at the Port of Itajaí with 13,616 tonnes of inputs used in fertilizer production (sodium bicarbonate, sodium tripolyphosphate, and barilla) in big bags. According to information from the Logistics Operations Coordination of the Superintendency, it was the first time g goods that fall under the “general cargo” label were transported in big bags to the port in 2023. Both operations were completed by SC Portos.
