ITAGUAÍ PORT HOLDS 13.1% OF ALL ORE FREIGHT AMONG BRAZILIAN PORTS

In 2023, the Port of Itaguaí, managed by PortosRio, recorded 55.8 million tonnes in cargo throughput, marking a significant 10.2% growth compared to 2022. This performance ranks Itaguaí as the third busiest Brazilian public port, following Santos and Paranaguá. Iron ore comprised 30% of the total cargo transported nationally, with Itaguaí maintaining prominence in this sector, accounting for 13.1% of all Brazilian port movements. The data, released by the National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ), underscores Itaguaí’s importance in Brazil’s port industry.
