IMPORTS OF FERTILIZERS GROW IN TOCANTINS

Fertilizer imports by companies and producers in Tocantins grew 101% in the first three months of 2020 compared to the same period last year. Altogether, Tocantins acquired 589.7 thousand tons of fertilizers in the first three months of the year. In the same period of 2019, the state had acquired 293.8 thousand tons. In cash, the increase was also considerable. State producers and companies spent US $ 14.18 million (more than R $ 72 million). Compared to the same period in 2019, the increase was 59%. The almost 590 thousand tons of fertilizers purchased by Tocantins in the first quarter of 2020 is the largest volume ever acquired by the state for the period in history. Before that, in 1Q18 the 500 thousand ton mark was also surpassed. Russia was the largest supplier of fertilizers for the period. Of the more than US $ 14.18 million in imports, 44% are Russian. In second place comes Saudi Arabia, with 33%. Then Mexico and Germany, with values above US $ 1 million.
