After a three-month period of sanitary break aimed at reducing the risk of spreading the fungus that causes Asian soybean rust, soybean farmers in Paraná have been authorized to begin planting. The state’s Department of Agriculture estimates a soybean harvest of nearly 22 million tons on 5.8 million hectares in the upcoming harvest season, which is slightly lower than the previous record of 22.4 million tons. Favorable conditions in the planting area are likely to rush planting in the coming days. For the second corn harvest, about 90% of the total area, estimated at 2.37 million hectares, has already been harvested, with the remaining 10% in the North region. The forecast for wheat is expected to exceed the highest volume ever recorded in the state, reaching 4.5 million tons.
