Brazil’s ethanol production from sugarcane and corn is projected to reach 48 billion liters by 2034, with an annual growth rate of 3.8% from 2022, according to the Ten-Year Energy Expansion Plan (PDE 2034). Expected ethanol demand over the next decade is 45 billion liters, indicating a surplus. The report also notes that electricity generation from sugarcane bagasse could average 5.8 GW. Biogas production from sugarcane residues may reach 6.4 billion Nm³, leading to 3.5 billion Nm³ of biomethane, covering 17% of the 2023 natural gas demand. Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production in Brazil is estimated at 1.1 million m³ per year from 2030, contributing significantly to greenhouse gas emission reduction goals.
