A new analysis carried out by the consulting firm DATAGRO for the 2022 cereal and oilseed season confirmed the 12th consecutive increase in the area sown with grain in Brazil, showing a great chance of production increases as well. “Producers remained motivated to move forward due to the good credit supply, the exceptional prices, and favorable market for 2022, by some means in line with the movement observed in 2020 and in 2021”, said Flávio Roberto de França Junior, Grain coordinator at DATAGRO. An area of 74.06 million hectares is expected, which represents an increase of 5.4% over 2021 and above the 72.45 million hectares of the initial projection. The total grain production is expected to reach 278.64 million tons, down 7% from the initial forecast (299.27 million tons). Even so, this harvest could be 7% above the 259.32 million tons of the revised 2021 crop and could also break the 2020 record of 266.85 million tons. “We need to have a winter crop within the normal range to confirm the expectations”, said França Junior.
