According to an estimate by Consultoria Agro do Itau BBA, corn ethanol facilities in Brazil would receive 12.8 million tons of corn to produce biofuel during the 2023/24 harvest, a 25% increase over the previous season. “We expect corn ethanol to account for 17% of total biofuel production, which we estimate at 31.7 billion liters, up from 15% the previous season,” they said. The improvement of ethanol production capacity using corn means that Brazil’s use of corn as a raw material continues to expand gradually. The country has 20 biofuel facilities that use corn as a raw material.
