CORN ETHANOL PRODUCTION TO GROW 36.7% IN 2023/24, SAYS UNEM

The National Federation of Corn Ethanol (Unem) predicted that Brazil will produce 6 billion liters of corn ethanol in the 2023/24 harvest (April to March), an increase of 36.7% from the 2022/23 cycle. Guilherme Nolasco, CEO at Unem, claims that an analysis of the previous six years reveals an “exponential growth of the sector,” which led to producing 520 million liters of corn ethanol during the 2017–18 cycle. “Despite all of the challenges brought on by factors such as the pandemic, reduced economic activity, tax policies, and the election process, we believe that the next crop will end with a rise of 1,053% over 2017,” he said.
