BRAZIL’S TRANSNORDESTINA LOGISTICA TO INVEST US$1.27BN TO COMPLETE RAIL PROJECT

Transnordestina Logística (TLSA) will invest an additional 7 billion reais (US$1.27 billion) to complete Brazil’s Transnordestina freight railroad by 2027. This adds to the 8 billion reais already invested, with support from the federal government. Initially launched in 2006, the project faced delays due to a lack of funding. Around 673km of the 1,206km line are finished, and works are ongoing in Ceará and Piauí. In a separate development, Belo Horizonte’s subway expansion was authorized, involving 10.5km, seven new stations, and over 3 billion reais in investments, with expected completion by 2028.
