BRAZIL’S PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM TO SPEED UP KEY WORKS AT PORT OF SANTOS

Brazil’s Investment Partnership Program (PPI) is expediting key projects at the Port of Santos. Qualified under the Federal Government’s PPI, the Santos-Guarujá underwater tunnel and the lease of STS53, vital for bulk mineral handling, could benefit. The PPI fosters public-private partnerships (PPPs) and accelerates processes, ensuring legal certainty and balanced concessionaire finances. Resolution 213 and Decree 11,025 qualify studies for the Santos-Guarujá dry connection. Jointly funded by federal and state governments, the R$11.6 billion project is anticipated to launch bidding later in 2024, with construction beginning between 2024-2025 and completion by 2028-2029. The PPI’s role in standardizing processes and bridging gaps with the private sector enhances efficiency.
