Brazil and the European Union (EU) reached an agreement on agricultural commodity quotas on Thursday (22). Mapa explains that the negotiations with the European Union began after the Brexit departure of the United Kingdom. Under the new agreement, Brazil had to conclude talks with both, the EU as well as the United Kingdom, to guarantee agricultural quotas in favor of national exports. The agreement refers only to the side of what is imported by the European bloc. In other words, it makes the Brazilian exporter pay a lower rate to ship its commodities to one of the 27 countries of the EU. “Brazil benefits from transparency and maintenance of preferential access,” said Mapa.
