ABOVE NATIONAL AVERAGE: PORT OF MUCURIPE REVEALS 13.2% HIKE IN CARGO THROUGHPUT

The Port of Fortaleza (Mucuripe) achieved a significant milestone, transporting 2,345,868 tonnes between January and June 2024, a 13.2% increase from 2023. This growth surpasses the national average of 4.28% and the Northeast’s 4.07%. The port saw a 37.5% increase in vessel dockings, rising from 352 to 484 ships. Lucio Gomes, CEO of Ceará Docks Company, highlighted the port’s role in Ceará’s development and emphasized plans for sustainable growth. He noted that the second half is peak season, expecting a 30% increase in TEUs, surpassing 120,000 units. Key commodities include cereals, petroleum derivatives, and fresh fruit. Solid bulk cargo increased by 9.47%, and liquid bulk cargo, the port’s largest revenue source, grew by 13.53%.
