ABIARROZ: RICE EXPORTS REACH 203.8 THOUSAND TONNES IN OCTOBER

Brazil’s rice exports reached 203.8 thousand tons in October, totaling $65.6 million, according to the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz). Compared to October 2022, there was a decline of approximately 46% in volume and 45% in revenue. In the year-to-date, rice exports reached 1.57 million tons, equivalent to $546.9 million, with a 5.9% decrease in volume and a 6.5% increase in revenue compared to the same period in 2022. The decrease is attributed to the smallest planted area in 47 years and drought in Rio Grande do Sul, the main producing state. Rice exports, particularly to destinations like Senegal, Gambia, Peru, and the United States, increased in October. Brazilian rice imports in October totaled 125.9 thousand tons, amounting to $53.6 million, with a 32.6% volume increase compared to October 2022.
