YEAR-TO-DATE SUGAR EXPORTS GROW 40.4% IN 2024

Brazil’s exports set a record with US$ 227 billion from January to August 2024, up 1.1% from 2023. Key sectors showed varied results: Agriculture dropped by 7.9% to US$ 52.76 billion, Extractive Industry grew by 15.5% to US$ 56.15 billion, and Manufacturing fell by 0.2% to US$ 117.04 billion. Notable increases were seen in live animals (+37.2%), unroasted coffee (+48.7%), and raw cotton (+185.6%). Sugar and molasses exports contributed US$ 12.119 billion, with a slight decrease in revenue due to a drop in average prices. Imports totaled US$ 173 billion, up 6.6%, resulting in a trade surplus of US$ 54.08 billion.
