VOLUME OF ETHANOL TRADED THIS WEEK IS THE THIRD LARGEST OF THE HARVEST

Last week, São Paulo’s spot market saw the third-largest volume of ethanol traded for the 2024/25 harvest, as reported by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) at Esalq-USP. Cepea noted increased participation from distributors and optimism among sellers for the upcoming months. Contributing factors include the nearing end of field and industry activities, lower tank pressure, and favorable fuel price differentials in key Center-South consumer states, which support prices at the plant. From October 7 to 11, the Cepea/Esalq Indicator for hydrous ethanol rose 2.31% to R$2.5159 per liter (net of ICMS and PIS/Cofins), while anhydrous ethanol increased 0.54% to R$2.7572 per liter, also net of taxes.
