VLI’s Air Draft initiative at the São Luís Port Terminal (TPSL) in the Port of Itaqui has significantly improved loading efficiency by reducing deballasting times. By allowing ships to arrive with less ballast water, vessels can be loaded faster, especially during peak harvest months. This optimization helped TPSL set a record in July 2024, handling 718,000 tonnes of grain—a 4.35% increase from 2023. The initiative also cut vessel operation times by up to 14 hours. Following this success, VLI plans to expand the initiative to other terminals across Brazil.
