In the second half of August, mills in Brazil’s Center-South processed 50.06 million tons of sugarcane, up 10.68% from last year, with 257 units operating. Despite a drop in sugarcane quality (ATR down 3.87% to 149.79 kg/ton), sugar output rose 18.2% to 3.87 million tons, while ethanol reached 2.42 billion liters, including a 17.45% rise in corn ethanol. The cumulative 2025/26 harvest reached 403.94 million tons, 4.78% below the prior cycle, reflecting lower productivity and ATR, which reduced ATR per hectare by 12%. Sugar production totaled 26.76 million tons (-1.92%) and ethanol 18.48 billion liters (-10.05%). Corn ethanol, however, grew 19.81% to 3.73 billion liters. August ethanol sales were 2.93 billion liters, with hydrous falling and anhydrous rising. Cumulative sales totaled 14.41 billion liters (-3.38%). The CBios market issued 29.85 million credits, already covering about 94% of 2025’s decarbonization target.
