Hidrovias do Brasil and Rumo, two logistics companies, have announced a partnership to meet the increasing demand for fertilizers in Santos, which is the second foreign fertilizer gateway in Brazil. The new operation will be located on the right bank of the site and will transport a volume of 500,000 tons of fertilizer per year. The companies plan to use an average of 20 wagons per day for transportation. According to research by Mordor Intelligence, the demand for fertilizers in the Brazilian market is estimated at USD 35.78 billion by 2024 and could reach USD 49.68 billion by 2030. Based on this data, the companies have decided to integrate the operation of the STS20 port terminal, controlled by Hidrovias do Brasil, with Rumo’s rail transport.
