TRADE BALANCE POSTS SURPLUS OF $2.6 BILLION THROUGH THE THIRD WEEK OF JANUARY 2025

By the third week of January 2025, Brazil’s trade balance recorded a $2.6 billion surplus, with exports at $15.7 billion and imports at $13.1 billion. Daily trade flow averaged $2.403 billion, up 12% from January 2024. Exports grew 7.8%, driven by increases in extractive industries (+10%) and manufactured goods (+9.5%), despite a 3.2% drop in agriculture. Imports rose 17.5%, led by growth in agriculture (+39.4%), extractive industries (+28.2%), and manufactured goods (+16.2%). The Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex/MDIC) highlighted the $1.4 billion surplus achieved in the third week alone, reflecting robust trade performance.
