TOCANTINS HARVESTS 9,1 MILLION TONS OF GRAIN IN 2024/25

Tocantins’ 2024/25 grain harvest is estimated at a record 9.17 million tons, up 28.2% from 2023/24 and surpassing the previous peak of 7.7 million tons in 2022/23, according to Conab. The state, now the largest producer in Brazil’s North and ninth nationally, stands out for its soybean, corn, and rice output. Soybean production reached a record 5.4 million tons (+32.7%), corn 2.6 million tons (+26.3%), and rice 822 thousand tons, making Tocantins the third-largest rice producer for the tenth year in a row. The strong performance reinforces Tocantins’ role in Matopiba, Brazil’s last agricultural frontier, attracting investments and international attention. Producers are already preparing for the 2025/26 harvest, with expectations of favorable rainfall from La Niña and expanded soybean and corn planting. With vast areas still available, especially low-yield pastures, Tocantins may soon surpass Bahia and São Paulo in production.
