The Port of Santos breaks historical record in July when handling 13.49 million tons, up 0,05% over the best mark so far, which is 13.48 million tons in April 2019. When compared to July 2019, it was a 5.9% growth. The data are from the preview of results released this Thursday (13) by the Santos Port Authority (SPA). July was the best month in the history of the port, it represents the sixth consecutive record over the last months. As for year to date numbers, the port also had the best result so far, handling 84.1 million tons, up 10.2% over January-July 2019. In July 2020, dry bulk cargo grew over 7%, reaching 7.6 million tons. Sugar and soybean are the main export highlights: sugar shipments grew 86.2% to 2.2 million tons while soybeans shipments grew 6.3% to 1.3 million tons. Bulk liquid cargo increased 22.8% to 1.7 million tons.
