Paraná’s 2024-25 corn harvest is projected to be the largest in history, with the second crop estimated at 16.15 million tons and a 7.4% larger planted area, surpassing the previous record of 18.1 million tons set in 2016-17. The first corn crop also achieved the highest average productivity ever, reaching 10.8 thousand kg/ha, despite a reduced area. Forecasts for other crops are also positive: barley production is expected to grow 39%, wheat production to rise 19% even with less area, and coffee to expand by 6%. On the downside, the second bean crop faces a 22% drop due to drought and pests. The Deral bulletin further reports higher live chicken production costs, driven by rising feed and genetics prices, with a 14% annual cost increase and an 8.6% rise in the price paid to producers as of April 2025.
