TEREOS OBTAINS ENVIRONMENTAL LICENSE REQUIRED TO EXPORT ETHANOL TO EUROPE

Tereos has obtained the Bonsucro European Union Renewable Energy Directive (EU RED) certification, which certifies that the ethanol produced by the company meets guidelines required for commercialization in Europe, allowing exports to the continent, said the company in a statement released on July 11. The first certified units of the group were Andrade, located in the municipality of Pitangueiras, and Vertente, in Guaraci, both in São Paulo. According to the company, this international certification verifies implemented sustainability requirements, such as environmental management plan, waste management, working conditions, and training. Bonsucro EU RED also assesses greenhouse gas emission rates from land-use change after 2008. “This certification adds value to our product, as it guarantees that production follows very strict criteria regarding ESG principles,” said Gustavo Segantini, Tereos commercial director, adding that the achievement expands the range of business opportunities. The Tereos group has 44 industrial units spread across 13 countries.
