TCU APPROVES MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT’S PROPOSAL TO BOOST RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE

The president of the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU), Vital do Rêgo, approved the start of a consensual resolution process with Vale S.A., aiming to advance railway infrastructure projects like the Fico-Fiol corridor. Vale committed to transferring BRL 17 billion to the Union through direct payments or investments in other railways, having already paid BRL 4 billion in December 2024. The Ministry of Transport, Vale, and ANTT have 15 days to appoint representatives for negotiations. A solution to review Vale’s concession fees for EFVM and EFC must be developed within 90 days, followed by a review by the TCU’s Public Prosecutor and plenary.
