TAX AUDITORS AT PORT OF SANTOS DELAY IMPORTS AND THREATEN TO STRIKE

Federal tax auditors have intensified their slowdown at customs, including the Port of Santos, and initiated “no computer access” days in the Secondary Zone, impacting tax collection. The protest, occurring on Thursday and Friday, will continue this week. Auditors claim the Federal Government violated a prior agreement. They are pushing for negotiations, following an April deal that promised salary adjustments, frozen since 2016. Delays are already felt at land customs, with up to 500 import declarations delayed at the Port of Santos. The Ministry of Management references a February 2024 agreement addressing bonuses but not salary adjustments.
