The corn harvesting season has started in Rio Grande do Sul, as reported by Emater/RS/Ascar. According to the firm, the Celeiro, Alto Médio Uruguai, and Fronteira Northwest areas have already harvested 1% of the state’s planted area. According to the weekly bulletin, corn has been planted in 90% of the projected area in the state. 11% of them are ripening, whereas 37% are grain filling. The company reports that yield projections remain variable, with some crops maintaining their initial potential, and others experiencing reductions due to pests, diseases, or damage from adverse weather conditions during the growth cycle. Emater notes that crops planted in September have a strong productive potential, which can compensate for losses in regions where crops were planted earlier.
