SUGARCANE PRODUCTIVITY IN THE CENTER-SOUTH GROWS 24.1% IN JULY, SAYS CENTER FOR SUGARCANE TECHNOLOGY

The average productivity of sugarcane fields harvested in July in the Center-South (98 t/ha) was 24.1% higher than that recorded in the previous harvest (78.9 t/ha). The productivity growth highlights in July were Araçatuba (35.8%), São Carlos (33.5%) and Mato Grosso do Sul (31.5%). The quality of the raw material (ATR) harvested in July was lower in practically all regions, with the exception of the states of Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná. This lower richness in the month of July can be attributed to the better distribution of rainfall that occurred in the Center-South region, which, consequently, contributed to better storage of water in the soil. With more water in the soil, sugarcane tends to mature less, reducing sugar production.
