As of February 28, Alagoas mills have processed over 17 million tons of sugarcane in the 2024/25 harvest, with more than 7 million tons supplied by independent producers. According to Sindaçúcar-AL, over 15.4 million tons were used for VHP and crystal sugar, yielding 1.5 million tons of sugar in six months. Additionally, 1.5 million tons of sugarcane were allocated for ethanol production, generating 393.9 million liters. However, only 10 of the state’s 15 mills participated in biofuel production this season.
