SUGARCANE CRUSHING SURPASSES 19 MILLION TONS IN ALAGOAS

The production of the 2023-24 sugarcane harvest in Alagoas is estimated to be between 19 and 19.5 million tons, with 15 crushing units. The end of the harvest season was marked by the completion of crushing at Sumaúma and Porto Rico mills. Despite the drop in farmland acreage, raw material yields are expected to boost industrial production. Ethanol and sugar output are predicted to rise with increased sugarcane yield. Although prices dropped during the harvest, there were hints of recovery at the end of the cycle. The following cycle is projected to produce similarly, or possibly match the previous harvest’s outcomes.
