SUGARCANE CRUSHING IN BRAZIL’S CENTER-SOUTH HITS 602.94 MILLION TONS

Sugarcane crushed between early April and December 1 totaled 602.94 million tons. The center-south area accounts for 2.75% less sugarcane crushing than the 619.97 million tons crushed in the same period in 2023. “The rains significantly affected the harvest pace in early November and several production units delayed the end of operations to the end of the month,” stated Luciano Rodrigues, UNICA’s Director of Sector Intelligence. According to him, sugarcane crushing in the center-south states increased by 3% from the amount crushed in the first half of the month, while in São Paulo, it advanced by almost 45% in the last fifteen days of November.
