SUGARCANE CRUSHING GREW 20.5% IN THE FIRST HALF OF JUNE

Sugarcane crushing at mills in the Center-South jumped 20.48% in the first half of June, reaching 49 million tons, owing to good weather conditions and strong ethanol prices, according to the Sugarcane and Bioenergy Industry Union (Unica). Crushing reached 189.46 million tons in the 2024-25 harvest till June 16, a 13.25% increase over the previous period. Sugar output surged by 20.48% in the first two weeks, reaching 3.12 million tons, and ethanol totaled 2.25 billion liters, with hydrous ethanol leading the way with a 29.56% increase. Ethanol sales increased by 17.87% during the first half of June.
