SUGAR: VOLATILE MARKET AWAITS DEMAND REACTION

Despite U.S.-China trade tensions causing commodity volatility, sugar remained stable as it is not significantly traded between them. Price adjustments were driven by strong March contract deliveries, while Central America’s increased exports eased short-term supply concerns. China produced 9.7 million tons by February, reducing imports, and India exported 550,000 t, reaching parity. The May contract faces pressure but may recover if demand rises. In Brazil, despite below-average rainfall in the Center-South, cane conditions remain better than last year due to October-December precipitation.
