SUGAR PRODUCTION IN BRAZIL’S CENTER-SOUTH GROWS BY 20% IN THE 2ND HALF OF JUNE

Sugar production in Brazil’s Center-South rose by 20% year-on-year in the second half of June, reaching 3.25 million tons, due to dry weather and the improved quality of the sugar cane. The sugar cane harvest rose by 13% to 48.8 million tons and ethanol production increased by 18.5% to 2.3 billion liters. These results were slightly below market expectations. Sugar cane productivity rose by 5% and reached 139.9 kg per ton.
