SUAPE PORT CARRIES OUT FIRST PORT-DREDGING OPERATION

The Port of Suape in Pernambuco has reached a key modernization milestone with the arrival of the Romulo Almeida, the first vessel to use its newly dredged 20-meter-deep external channel. This operation, conducted on Thursday (9), enhances the port’s logistics by enabling it to handle larger Suezmax-class ships (up to 170,000 gross tonnage), boosting its competitiveness. The Transpetro/Petrobras tanker docked to load 17,000 m³ of Diesel S10. A further BRL 217 million investment is dredging the internal channel to 16.2 meters, funded jointly by the State Government and the Ministry of Ports and Airports.
