The Brazilian corn market enters 2026 with strong domestic availability, supported by higher carryover stocks and anticipated growth in the first crop’s output. Consequently, contracts traded on B3 operate below last season’s levels. Although a record planted area of 22.7 million hectares is projected for the 2025-26 harvest, Cepea analysts highlight concern over irregular rainfall and high temperatures in the Midwest. These conditions could impact the development of the first crop and shorten the ideal sowing window for the second crop, which supplies roughly 80% of Brazil’s corn.
