STRONG GROWTH IN SUGAR AND ETHANOL PRODUCTION DESPITE CHALLENGING WEATHER CONDITIONS

Sugarcane crushing reached 35.86 million tons, 2.2% more than the total during the same period of the previous cycle, with almost 59% of the 2024–2025 sugarcane harvest already completed in the North and Northeast regions. Due to the lack of consistent rainfall, the current crop season will close with less crushing than expected. However, the raw material used to produce sugar and biofuel – total recoverable sugar (ATR) – will be more concentrated per ton of sugarcane. Rising from 729.7 million liters in the previous harvest, hydrous ethanol production jumped 27.9% to 933.5 million liters. The amount of sugar produced was 2.18 million tons, 18.2% more than the 1.84 million tons produced at the end of 2024.
