Sugarcane milling in Brazil’s North-Northeast region for the 2025/26 season (September–August) is projected at 55.5 million tons, representing a 3.6% decline compared to the previous harvest, according to StoneX. Monitoring through early February showed 48.03 million tons already milled, down 5.5% year-on-year. The consultancy attributes the weaker performance mainly to a delayed start of the harvest caused by excessive rainfall in September, which slowed field operations and reduced early-season volumes. Although some recovery is expected in early 2026 as weather conditions improve, the consultancy still expects total milling for the cycle to remain below last season’s level, reflecting the lasting impact of the slow start.
