SOYBEAN PLANTING REACHES 40% OF THE AREA IN RIO GRANDE DO SUL

Soybean plantings in Rio Grande do Sul jumped from 23 percent to 40 percent in a week, as reported by Emater-RS. While this is an improvement over last year’s 23% planting rate, it is still lower than the typical 53%. Due to the lack of rainfall, soil moisture dropped, making it tough to plant properly in locations like the western border and the northwest. Nonetheless, the weather has been mostly friendly, with enough moisture for planting and plant development. The area’s wheat harvest was 83%, somewhat lower than last year’s 85% but better than the average of 79%. The quality of harvested wheat was satisfactory on the Plateau and northwest, but it was below average in the south and northwest.
