SOYBEAN HARVEST REACHES 96% OF THE AREA IN RIO GRANDE DO SUL

Emater-RS reported that the soybean harvest in Rio Grande do Sul has reached 96% of the cultivated area, up from 94% the previous week. Last year, the harvest had already been completed by this time. However, excessive rains since April 29 have drastically lowered the expected crops in 2023-24. Before the rains, productivity had peaked at 5,400 kg/ha, with an average of more than 3,300 kg. Emater has lowered its yield prediction to 2,923 kg/ha, with production reduced from 22.24 million to 19.53 million tons. After harvesting, farmers are restoring erosion and replenishing soil fertility.
