The Ministry of Ports and Airports has approved roughly BRL 1.5 billion in private funding for upgrades at the ports of São João da Barra (RJ) and Santos (SP), forming part of a larger BRL 4.7 billion national initiative. The Açu Marine Fuel Terminal will allocate BRL 275.3 million to expand its liquid bulk capacity, strengthening its role as a key maritime refueling hub. Meanwhile, in Santos, BRL 1.24 billion will go toward building a new cruise terminal at Ponta da Praia to boost tourism. By year-end, the government aims to invest over BRL 10 billion in the sector, further elevating the role of private terminals, which handle 65% of the country’s cargo movement. Additionally, the Southeast region has renewed the concession for the Port of São Sebastião, aiming to transform it into a major hub for container logistics.
