SECOND CROP CORN HARVEST IS ADVANCED IN THE CENTER-SOUTH OF BRAZIL, SAYS AGRURAL

As of June 30th, the second 2024 corn crop harvest in Brazil’s Center-South reached 4.7% of the cultivated area, up from 2% the previous week and 1.4% last year, reports AgRural consultancy. Early planting in Mato Grosso and dry, hot weather in Paraná accelerated the harvest. AgRural estimates Brazil’s total 2023/24 corn production at 118.4 million tons, down from 119.5 million tons due to adverse weather, excluding Mato Grosso. Paraná’s production is forecast at 11.9 million tons, down from 14.7 million tons last year. Mato Grosso shows a promising harvest despite a reduced area. Brazil faces over 40% reduction in corn exports this season compared to last year’s record 54.6 million tons.
