SÃO LUÍS PORT TERMINAL CLEARED TO EXPORT CORN TO CHINA

The São Luís Port Terminal (TPSL), operated by VLI, is now authorized to export corn to China, boosting Brazil’s position in global grain trade. This milestone highlights the Arco Norte region’s growing role as a key export corridor. China tightened import rules in 2023, leading TPSL to adapt operations, register with the Ministry of Agriculture, and meet strict quality standards for grain. Despite global market challenges, Arco Norte’s share of corn exports to China nearly doubled from 23% in 2023 to 44% in 2024, shipping 3.6 million tonnes in 2023 and 2.2 million tonnes in 2024. TPSL’s certification strengthens Brazil’s agricultural export capacity, with future growth expected in 2025. Already authorized to export soybeans, the terminal is now well-positioned to seize new opportunities in global markets.
