SANTOS PORT RENEWS TARIFF DISCOUNTS FOR ‘GREEN SHIPS’

The Port Authority of Santos (APS) has extended for another 120 days the tariff discount for green ships, vessels with better environmental performance. The discount, applied to waterway infrastructure charges, can reach up to 15% based on the vessel’s Environmental Ship Index (ESI) score: 15% for scores 71-100, 10% for 51-70, 5% for 31-50, and no discount for scores up to 30. The ESI evaluates technologies that reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) and sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions. Since 2023, the program has granted over BRL 40.6 million in discounts to ships and terminals adopting sustainable practices.
