SANTOS PORT CHANNEL TO BE AUCTIONED BY FEBRUARY 2026

The auction for a 25-year renewable concession (up to 70 years) of the navigation channel at Brazil’s Port of Santos is expected between December 2025 and February 2026. Currently in the first of three pre-auction phases, the process includes a public consultation and approval by the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU). The Merchant Marine Fund may finance the project, as with the Port of Paranaguá. The proposal is being reviewed by Antaq, with contributions from BNDES. Similar concessions for ports like Paranaguá, Itajaí, and Rio Grande are also advancing. Paranaguá’s auction is scheduled for September. Four of five navigation channel projects, including Santos, are already well underway.
