SANTOS PORT AUTHORITY OPENS BIDDING PROCESS FOR BARNABÉ ISLAND ACCESS ROAD EXPANSION

The Santos Port Authority (APS) initiated a bidding process on March 10 for a project to expand and duplicate the access road to Barnabé Island, located in Guarujá. The goal is to accommodate growing liquid bulk operations and container throughput at the DP World private terminal. The project includes adding two traffic lanes over a 2.7-kilometer stretch, building bridges over the Diana and Sandi rivers, restoring existing pavement, and integrating with a railway overpass. The project must ensure uninterrupted port operations and maintain road and rail access during construction. Bidders must submit proposals by March 31, 2025. In 2024, liquid bulk throughput at the Port of Santos hit a record 19.6 million tonnes, with significant increases in gasoline, diesel, and gasoil exports.
