Santos Brasil was authorized by the Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels (ANP) to run operations at TGL 3, its first liquid bulk terminal in the Port of Itaqui, in the state of Maranhão, a major oil derivatives distribution hub. With a nominal capacity of 20 thousand m³ across seven storage tanks for diesel, gasoline, anhydrous ethanol, and biodiesel, the terminal has maritime, road, rail, and pipeline connections. The Itaqui terminal is one of three won by the company in an auction held at B3 in April last year — two brownfields (which were in operation) and one greenfield, with start-up expected by 2026. The term of each lease is 20 years, with the possibility of successive extensions up to a limit of 70 years. After Santos Brasil concludes its planned investments, whose CapEx may exceed BRL 500 million, the three areas will total 201,000 m³ of nominal capacity.
