RS 2024/25 HARVEST: WHEAT PLANTING REACHES 92% OF THE TOTAL AREA

Wheat planting in Rio Grande do Sul has reached 92% of the estimated 1.19 million hectares for the winter harvest, boosted by July’s dry weather and on track to meet climate risk zoning deadlines. While recent crops are germinating and need rain, earlier plantings show strong development, though regional issues like humidity, heat, and erosion have affected some areas. White oat sowing nears completion on 401.2 hectares despite early moisture stress and frost damage. Canola sowing is finished, with recovery underway depending on weather. Barley planting is also complete, with crops showing healthy growth, particularly in regions with contracts linked to beer production.
